Northeastern Arizona Homeschoolers Science & Engineering Fair is a preliminary fair to advance to the State fair. NAZH hosts a Science & Engineering Fair for our homeschool students because we believe in the same mission that AZSEF institutes into their program, for our homeschoolers. 

AZSEF's mission is: "The mission of the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair is to support and provide guidance to students and teachers throughout Arizona to ensure the continued availability and vitality of this statewide celebration of scientific inquiry for the citizens of Arizona."

What Does My Child Need to Complete for Registration?
1- Complete the Pre-Registration form on this webpage (to the right). DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2016.
2- Review the Intel International Rules in the Downloads/Printables section below, BEFORE BEGINNING A PROJECT. 
3- Select a category from the appropriate age division in the Downloads/Printables section below, BEFORE BEGINNING A PROJECT. 
4- BEFORE BEGINNING A PROJECT, your child MUST obtain AZSEF approval if their project will include: 
A. Identifiably survey data
B. Anything living e.g. mold, humans, etc. 
C. Potentially hazardous e.g. chemicals, bacteria, etc. 

If so, print and complete the Review Form for the correct division (available below for download/printing) and submit to AZSEF@AZSCIENCE.ORG for prior approval. If you have additional questions email nazhomeschoolers@hotmail.com. 

Grade Level Divisions and Advancement to AZSEF State Fair:
Primary Division | Grades Kindergarten - 4th Grade
*These children may participate and place in the NAZH Fair, but will not qualify for advancement
Elementary Division | Grades 5th - 6th  
**1st place in each category will qualify to advance to the AZSEF State Fair
Junior Division | Grades 7th - 8th 
**1st place in each category will qualify to advance to the AZSEF State Fair
Senior Division | Grades 9th - 12th 
**1st place in each category will qualify to advance to the AZSEF State Fair

If there are not a total of 12 qualifying participants in EACH the Elementary and Junior Division, NAZH reserves the right to fill those spots with other highly qualified projects at the judges discretion. Additionally, they may also do so at the Senior where applicable for advancement.

What is the Cost of Entering the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Science & Engineering Fair?
FREE!

How Do I Register My Child(ren), and Is There a Deadline?
Complete the online Pre-Registration Form (located on the top right of this page). Deadline to Pre-Register is January 22nd. Detailed instructions are listed steps #1-4 above. 

What if My Child Qualifies to Advance to the State Fair?
You will receive a placing ribbon and information at the NAZH Fair. You will then need to fill out a new registration form and pay a fee through NAZH to complete advancement. The form link will be emailed to you, and the fee is $15 per advancing child which can be paid online through Pay Pal. This is a required fee through AZSEF and the Arizona Science Center. The AZSEF State Fair is 3 days during April or May of each year. Each qualifying student/family is responsible for their own accommodations/transportation. If a child qualifies for advancement, they are not required to do so, it is just available if they choose to pursue it. 

What Could My Child Win, If They Win the State Fair?
Awards include, but are not limited to: 
  • Educational scholarships
  • Cash awards
  • Summer internships 
  • Scientific field trips
  • Equipment grants

Who Can Compete in the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Science & Engineering Fair?
Students that are homeschooled according to ARS-15 Arizona Homeschooling law http://www.afhe.org/az_law.html are qualified to participate. This would NOT include students that attend an online public, charter, or other similar forms of schooling that by law are not considered homeschooled. These students are invited to all our activities, but due to qualifications for this special activity, we cannot include these students in our Science & Engineering Fair.
