Northeastern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bees honor and promote academic achievement and excellence. Bees can help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
What if Your Child Wins the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bee?
The winning participant of the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bee can advance to additional preliminary Bees in Arizona necessary for qualification in the National Scripps Spelling Bee.
Additionally, the 1st and 2nd place winner will each receive from Encyclopedia Britannica, (1) one FREE one-year membership to Britannica Online for Kids (a $69.95 value).
Each participant will receive an official certificate of participation.
What is the Cost of Entering the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bee?
Only members of our group are allowed to participate and there is no additional fee.
How Do I Register My Child(ren), and Is There a Deadline?
Complete the online pre-registration & RSVP (located on the right of this page). Deadline to Pre-Register & RSVP is January 1st. It is strongly encouraged that students pre-register as early as possible to be included in timely information and study materials for the spelling bee. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
What does my child get from pre-registering for the Northern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bee?
1. Placement on official check-in and registration list for day of bee (required), and participation in the NAH Spelling Bee.
2. Copy of Official Scripps spelling study list.
3. Copy of Official Scripps rules.
4. Special invitation to receive an Official Scripps Word Club account.
5. Certificate of participation.
6. Winner from Navajo county will advance to the next level.
Who Can Compete in the Northeastern Arizona Homeschoolers Spelling Bee?
1. Student who has not passed the 8th grade on or before February 1, 2018.
2. Student who has not reached their 15th birthday by August 31, 2017.
3. Homeschoolers residing in Navajo County.
4. There is no minimum age/grade level requirement.
Students that are homeschooled according to ARS-15 Arizona Homeschooling law http://www.afhe.org/az_law.html are qualified to participate. This would NOT include students that attend an online public, charter, or other similar forms of schooling that by law are not considered homeschooled. These students are invited to all our activities, but due to qualifications for this special activity, we cannot include these students in our spelling bee. Questions: email@example.com
